ActionScript Virtual Machine donated to Mozilla
Adobe has donated the AVM to Mozilla foundation . Within Mozilla, the project will be codenamed Tamarin.
AVM is a high performance, under-utilized[:( ] platform for delivering rich applications. Basically, thats the thing that drives flash content[we are NOT talking about the annoying intros, we are talking about great apps, which make Ajax apps look like kids play] on your browser.
Honestly ,Ajax is nothing infront of Flash.[this was not my opinion until recently, when we started discovering amazing things flash can do!! For those who dont understand what that means, we wont tell you, coz its full of opportunities!! ]
Eventhough Actionscript 3 is a full blown Object Oriented languge, it inherits from Javascript way of event handling its predecessor enjoyed. Eventhough the AS3 code doesnt look like that, we assume, internally AVM handles things the JS way[not confirmed]. Anyway, Tamarin, will eventualy help Mozilla build a robust, high performance javascript platform. In return, Adobe will get a lot of community input [hopefully].
This doesnt mean, Flash is open source now.
