Firefox 2 bug

So we waited to see if any disastrous bug will be reported over blogosphere on Firefox 2, seems like everything is fine. Except for the occasional affinity of cursor to move top right, to close the tab button, everything seems perfect.
But then, oh yeah the old nagging pop up bug still remains with Firefox. If a tab blocks a pop up, every time you return to that tab, the message shows up indicating Firefox has blocked a pop up. This looks more annoying than the pop up itself.

Another annoying issue that still exist is the problem with handling flash movies with wmode parameter set to transparent.Looks like Firefox will never get rid of this issue!

Anyway, everything looks great! If you haven't yet switched to Firefox, stop punishing yourself. Switch to Firefox.

Innocent girl branded racist!

At least this is what we understand from initial news reports.A 14 year old was arrested from Harrop Fold High School in Worsley, Greater Manchester , after her teachers reported "racist behaviour".
It is said that the girl reported her inconvenience sitting with 5 students who spoke mutually in a language she didnt understand, to which the teachers responded by calling police!

According to the girl, the five - four boys and a girl - then began talking in a language she didn't understand, thought to be Urdu, so she went to speak to the teacher.

"I said 'I'm not being funny, but can I change groups because I can't understand them?' But she started shouting and screaming, saying 'It's racist, you're going to get done by the police'."

The report continues stating,

"Fewer than two per cent of pupils at Harrop Fold come from an ethnic minority.

It had the worst GCSE results in the entire Salford LEA last year with just 15 per cent of pupils achieving five good passes including English and maths, a third of the national average."

But thanks to the police department . They dropped the charge against the girl, because, common sense tells you, this is normal, and not racist.

Why should the school respond to a situation like this by branding the girl racist? Why cant they handle the situation on their own? Perhaps this is a nasty tactics the school authorities came up with to scare away minorities who doesn't speak English.[read: Fewer than two per cent of pupils at Harrop Fold come from an ethnic minority.]

This type of stuff only helps to propagate seeds of racism.

Google Docs is live!

Google Docs is up and running ! Pretty cool. Staying within the security constrains of a web browser, they have done an amazing job. Its basically Writely deprived of its Writely looks. Now in beta, Docs feature save as pdf option, the same option that triggered a battle between Adobe and Microsoft.
And the coolest part, it lets you collaborate. Isn't that a "smart word" Bill Gates used a lot in past? Now its not smart, its "rich".

So what is the missing factor? A bit of marketing. Nick is said to have conflicting idea with Jessewarden on this. But I feel offline marketing is extremely important. One thing I have noticed is that, most people still consider Microsoft products as the robust mature solution, while most Web 2.0 products are considered as kids stuff. Its like,"okay! we will test it, but that's it!".

Unless Google can integrate this robustness are reliability factor with its brand, they are not gonna be another Microsoft anytime soon.Right now they are just an advertising company, who invest their cash in some projects, which never make any money.Pretty bad.
